When in Russia eat caviar and live like a Czar. I decided to visit The Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg. Its a famous established old school hotel that hosts a good mix of well to do locals and travelers. It has a caviar bar and after a long day, I book the last seating of the night on a weekday.
Its empty but beautiful space.
Lots of Dom…
The cart of happiness… I want to try them all…
I review the menu. I go for a three course meal.
The bread was really good.
I order bubbles I have never seen before, and its not bad.
Then it arrives… the caviar… it was good, just the right amount.
And I clear every single one…
I went over Thanksgiving so I order a bird… again it was good.
Then I order a dessert named after the famous Russian Ballerina Anna Pavlova. Again it was good.
Legend says that she sat at this table before performances and touched the fountain head for good luck, so I do the same.
Then it is time for tea and a few last sweets.
And one for the road!
I walk out after my great meal to find the lobby bars filled with locals. I decided to go for just one more drink… again it was good.
