Hotel Plaza Athénée – New York

A small boutique hotel on East 64th Street between Park and Madison Avenue, the Plaza Athenee New York is located on a quintessential tree lined street in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  A small intimate hotel, you won’t find the crowds you see in other more larger famous hotels. A type of place where they address each guest by name every time you leave or return during your stay, the service makes this place stand out from the rest. It very much feels like a residence and the attention to details is what makes this hotel experience unique.

Its located in a residential area so its very quite, and walking distance to most things on the Upper East and Midtown East areas. Its a taxi ride to the more hip and the night life of downtown. I prefer to be entertained downtown and select hotels that are located away from the night life action.

Nice fancy lobby, and small elevators typical for old New York buildings. IMG_2634IMG_2565

We had lunch at the restaurant with the yellow panel walls. The bar is the dark brown walls, interestingly the bar has a leather floor. IMG_2555IMG_2558

After lunch we went up to our room, our party got two adjoining  rooms. IMG_2561

It was nice that the adjoining rooms was not just connected rooms but was connected by a hallway. The addition of the hallway to the rooms make it so much bigger and adds much needed room for a larger group of people.  IMG_2542IMG_2553One of the two rooms we got, This room was smaller, but had the better bathroom with a walk in shower and bath tub. IMG_2541

This was the larger room including a large entry way with a kitchenette, but the bathroom only had a tub and no walk in shower. IMG_2540

View of my room with entry way and connecting hallway to the other room. IMG_2543IMG_2545IMG_2546IMG_2548

A more “traditional” bathroom. IMG_2547IMG_2551

High end toiletries always helps. IMG_2584IMG_2635

Very “traditional” signs in the bathroom. IMG_2637

Again it is a very residential neighborhood…IMG_2632IMG_2633
