Sotheby’s New York is in the Upper East Side and regularly makes the New York Times front page news when major works of art are auctioned off at record prices.
Sotheby’s is a great place to spend an afternoon. Many of the floors are open to the public and show case items that will be auctioned off. They also have a wine shop on the first floor with large selection of wines, a diamond shop on the upper floors, and a cafe on the top floor.
I registered for my own paddle but I did not buy anything. Lot of the buyers were art / furniture dealers with lots of winning bids from online or phone bids.
I went to a morning session and then spent the afternoon viewing the auction show rooms and then went for a Upper East Side lunch.
